Why We Need To Drink Water

walt: understand why people need to drink water everyday.

Why is water important? Water helps us with our everyday lifestyles. Without water the human race wouldn’t exist but why? The reason for this is because up to 65% of our bodies are made of water, without water we can only live for no longer than a week.

Water helps everyone to keep hydrated because if you aren’t hydrated your body won’t perform at it’s highest abilities. Hydration is one of the things that the human body needs most. Every cell, tissue and organ needs water in order to work properly.

H20 oxygenates your blood and flushes toxins. Drinking plenty of water ensures that your blood, will carry plenty of oxygen to all of your body cells. If you didn't drink much water then the blood will not have any oxygen in it, meaning without oxygen those tiny cell will die and your body will stop working.

Water keeps us alive without it we will die. The longest you can go without water is three days max. Food is different because you can last at least three week’s. The reason we can’t go without water for very long is because most of our body is made out of water.

I found that water is magic, it does so many different things to help everything living. Water hydrates us, keeps us healthy in many ways etc.

Polyvicious

Have you ever been to the ASB polyfest?  Well yesterday  I went with  the seniors of my school.  We went to understand and be reminded how important our cultures are.  Here are some highlights of the awesome day.

One of my highlights were going to the Maori stage and getting there just in time to watch Kaipara college perform. The Kaipara college tribe is Ngati Kahungunu (one of my iwi).  I really enjoyed watching them perform I thought it was amazing. While I watched their performance I enjoyed a delicious watermelon sundae.

It was cool to see some of my family and friends while I was walking around this huge event with my group.  I saw a few of my year 9 and 10 friends from last year, and family I haven’t seen in a bit. Some of the friends I saw performed in their groups not long after I had given them my goodbyes.

I think that the importance of polyfest is to be reminded of the importance of our cultures, and to be reminded who we are.  Yesterday I learnt alot of things about languages and what would happen if we didn’t even have one.  I also saw/learnt what discipline looks like in my culture.

I also enjoyed the delicious food at polyfest (Watermelon sundaes, Mussel fritters etc.) I hope that I will get another chance to go to polyfest again as I had a blast. My group was called the Skittles and our helper was Noah's mother. My very favourite part of the day was going to the Maori stage. Click here to see what a couple Pt Englanders got upto.

My Role Model

Walt: to explain who our role model is and why

All of us have a role model, that one person that is always in your heart that you know you will remember forever.  My role model is my Koro.  Here are reasons he is my role model.

My koro is the head maori translator for child youth and family (siffs.)
He started off at Manukau institute of technology then moved to Wellington for Child, youth and family.  He has achieved very many things to this day and he travels to australia and all over new zealand for this job.

As a maori translater my koro speak fluent maori.  He talks to me in maori so I will understand him even more each time he speaks in my language.  One day I plan to be just like my Koro.

Last year my koro had a heart attack. Not long after he got out of hospital he started running and walking, Both my nana and koro are getting ready to walk the great wall of china.  Their trainings for this event are hardcore, they will do at least 30km a week.

Here are the reasons my Koro is my role model. Who is your role model?
