Measuring Angles

walt: Identify and measure different types of angles.

I found this task easy to go through. I got into the questions very easily although, about halfway into my questions it got harder for me to figure out. Overall I really enjoyed doing this task.

End of year Poem

End of the year now feeling blue
Just past Halloween all night saying boo
My friend and I are stuck together like glue

For the next few weeks my heart will be filled with sadness
But moving onto college with great friends brings me gladness
I know on the last day it will be filled with madness

Just remember we'll always be friends
No matter what happen they'll always lend me some pens
What great friends I have I know I'd rate them all 10s.

Emotions

Emotions. With sad, happy, scared and frustrated all the emotions were matched with a song chosen my Yvonne and I. We both looked at different options and we chose which songs most suit our emotions.

Letter to RLWC Tongan Team

Image result for tonga flag
A few weeks ago, I heard alot of people talking about this big game of Tonga v Nz. I wasn’t sure of what to expect from these two teams. Of course I was ready to watch the intense game. From the first 10 minutes I had figured out who the winners were and from there I was hoping they’d take out the RLWC 2017. Unfortunately on last Saturday one team got in the way.

Malo e lelei,
My name is Cameo. I have really enjoyed watching your games the past few weeks. With excitement and thrill you doubtlessly brought the best entertainment any other team could of. I thank your team with much gratitude. I’ve learned from you all that one's love for their culture will never change.

For me you've really changed my perspective on the reasons you played. Your hearts are rich in your culture. Everyone aware of the RLWC would have seen that throughout the whole competition you showed dedication, Inspiration and Motivation. You've really made all of tonga proud on how far you've come.

Thank you so much,
Cameo.

Game reflection so far

Have you ever used coding to create your very own game? Well for the past 10 weeks in Extension class Seini and I have been creating a space game. We have had a small struggle with getting the spaceship to shoot but we are getting there. One of our most struggles were communication but it has gotten better every week. Today we completed our game with and extra level and 3 fun facts! Last term we made a different game which was a maze one but this term it’s focused more on space and sharing facts and fun. Our whole focus so far this year has been coding using mostly scratch and a little bit of code combat. Before actually starting our game we found out more information about space right here:

Our knowledge with coding had definitely grown alot so far this year. It took alot of different solutions in our game as we had alot of glitches especially with a bonus level.

Food Tech Week 7

Today in Food tech we made mini quiches. I made the pasty and my partner Anahere made the filling.
What you will need for mini quiches:
Measuring cups, Large mixing bowl, sharp knife, chopping boards, wooden spoon, 12 cup muffin tray, cookie cutter. For the pastry I used:
130gms or flour, 25-50gms of butter and Water.
How to make the pastry:
First mix the butter and flour with your hand till they form a crumb-like consistency. Once you think it is right slowly add water little by little until of a doughy texture while continuously mixing. Once you have made your pastry you will need to roll it into a thin sheet then with a cookie cutter cut 12 perfect circles. For the filling: you will need bacon, 1 egg, half a spring onion, cheese and salt and pepper.
chop the bacon and combine bacon with egg in small mixing bowl then dice spring onion and cheese then mix. Once the filling and pastry is made, spray muffin tray with cooking oil and place the pastry circles then add the filling. cook for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. this is how Anahere and my quiches turned out.

Why We Need To Drink Water

walt: understand why people need to drink water everyday.

Why is water important? Water helps us with our everyday lifestyles. Without water the human race wouldn’t exist but why? The reason for this is because up to 65% of our bodies are made of water, without water we can only live for no longer than a week.

Water helps everyone to keep hydrated because if you aren’t hydrated your body won’t perform at it’s highest abilities. Hydration is one of the things that the human body needs most. Every cell, tissue and organ needs water in order to work properly.

H20 oxygenates your blood and flushes toxins. Drinking plenty of water ensures that your blood, will carry plenty of oxygen to all of your body cells. If you didn't drink much water then the blood will not have any oxygen in it, meaning without oxygen those tiny cell will die and your body will stop working.

Water keeps us alive without it we will die. The longest you can go without water is three days max. Food is different because you can last at least three week’s. The reason we can’t go without water for very long is because most of our body is made out of water.

I found that water is magic, it does so many different things to help everything living. Water hydrates us, keeps us healthy in many ways etc.

Aucklands Water Crisis

Walt: ask questions, skim and scam the text to decided what is important to make and refine predictions.

In this task I researched about the water crisis in Auckland.

Polyvicious

Have you ever been to the ASB polyfest?  Well yesterday  I went with  the seniors of my school.  We went to understand and be reminded how important our cultures are.  Here are some highlights of the awesome day.

One of my highlights were going to the Maori stage and getting there just in time to watch Kaipara college perform. The Kaipara college tribe is Ngati Kahungunu (one of my iwi).  I really enjoyed watching them perform I thought it was amazing. While I watched their performance I enjoyed a delicious watermelon sundae.

It was cool to see some of my family and friends while I was walking around this huge event with my group.  I saw a few of my year 9 and 10 friends from last year, and family I haven’t seen in a bit. Some of the friends I saw performed in their groups not long after I had given them my goodbyes.

I think that the importance of polyfest is to be reminded of the importance of our cultures, and to be reminded who we are.  Yesterday I learnt alot of things about languages and what would happen if we didn’t even have one.  I also saw/learnt what discipline looks like in my culture.

I also enjoyed the delicious food at polyfest (Watermelon sundaes, Mussel fritters etc.) I hope that I will get another chance to go to polyfest again as I had a blast. My group was called the Skittles and our helper was Noah's mother. My very favourite part of the day was going to the Maori stage. Click here to see what a couple Pt Englanders got upto.

My Role Model

Walt: to explain who our role model is and why

All of us have a role model, that one person that is always in your heart that you know you will remember forever.  My role model is my Koro.  Here are reasons he is my role model.

My koro is the head maori translator for child youth and family (siffs.)
He started off at Manukau institute of technology then moved to Wellington for Child, youth and family.  He has achieved very many things to this day and he travels to australia and all over new zealand for this job.

As a maori translater my koro speak fluent maori.  He talks to me in maori so I will understand him even more each time he speaks in my language.  One day I plan to be just like my Koro.

Last year my koro had a heart attack. Not long after he got out of hospital he started running and walking, Both my nana and koro are getting ready to walk the great wall of china.  Their trainings for this event are hardcore, they will do at least 30km a week.

Here are the reasons my Koro is my role model. Who is your role model?

The Scientific Method

Walt: write a piece of instructional writing using the 'Scientific Method'

Purpose/Question:
Our question was: Which one will react the best with the mentos?

Research:
Due to research diet coke would have the biggest chemical reaction.

Hypothesis/Prediction:
Our prediction was that diet coke will go the highest.

Experiment:
  1. 1.5 litre bottles of the following:
    1. 7up, coke, diet coke, fanta, l&p and pepsi and also some mint mentos to drop in. we placed all six bottles onto a table then one by one we dropped h mentos into the bottle and filmed what happened.

Analysis/Results:
the best reacting drink was 7Up and it was the first to be tested.

Conclusion:

we would have done it differently by keeping all of the fizzy in and not taking any out.

Fair test or not?

Walt: synthesise information from multiple resources
