Year 6 camp recount

Walt: write a recount about camp

Rode a big black bus for over an hour north. There was sleepwalking , movies , action , adventure , darkness, and dirt all in just four days. What an unbelievable camp we had.

On the last morning , I was out of bed and down the stairs the problem was I was sleepwalking. My friends tried to wake me up. It was a bad idea. My friend lied and said I rubbed moisturiser all over my bed but when I was sleepwalking she got up and did it. Luckily I only went to the toilet and then back to bed. I don’t want to do that again.

Abseiling was my biggest fear because of the height. When I was climbing up the wall I was afraid then while I did it a burst of exhilaration rode up me like a car. It was such an amazing experience  I decided the I would go another without any fear.

At the start I didn't know what was happening then I saw the blindfolds. The Burma trail is when you are blindfolded then a long rope is tied to trees and then while blindfolded you go through the trail. For me especially it was hard and eventually at the end I managed to kiss 3 trees , hug 10 and I tripped slipped or fell 12 times.

My favourite memory about camp bentzon was you have to rely on your group to help you along the way. The best socializing activity at the camp is probably raft building because everyone is helping and talking.This camp on kawau island was one of the best experiences I have had in my life so if I ever get the chance to go back there I’d surely be there.

In this task we learnt to write recounts about camp bentzon. At camp bentzon we had an awesome time on this awesome island. I can't wait till I get older and read back at this.

My egg friend

Walt: think about my purpose and reader by planning my recount

I used to like egg races until yesterday. Yesterday we had and egg and spoon race.
Races themselves are difficult but yesterday was the top of the top. Check this out.

Egg races are hard because, you really have to concentrate while doing it. You
will probably get the feeling the spoon is heavy because you are moving alot.

We were in buddies and we each got one egg per group. My buddy Lani drew a face on our egg. While my buddy was coming with the egg I felt extremely nervous. I was waiting at the other side of the park and I thought what if I crack it or drop it. But that wasn't the worst part.

My buddy Lani had given me the egg. While I walked through the park I was scared but I sort of succeeded. I was happy but when I was one foot away from the finish line  my egg fell onto the ground. Luckily my egg never broke or cracked.

I think that next time I will go a bit slower so I can gain control over my egg. To be honest I don’t know if I will ever do that again. If I do it again I will probably think about what I'm going to do before I do it.

In this task I learnt to white a whole recount in 45 minutes. I found it a bit difficult at the start but I found it a bit easier during the end.

The Trade Fair

Walt: use language that paint a picture in the mind of our readers.

Trade trade trade,in week 4 we had a trade fair we sold products from our different umbrella businesses .
We all had  completely different groups, but we only had six. We also have our own currency, money , bank accounts and jobs.

A trade fair is like a normal fair but, we have our own currency for the trade fair. We sold products that were hand made. In the Trade fair, we had to take money from other people who would buy our product. We had to explain what it was, say what they had to give to buy it and gain interest from our customers.

There are six business umbrellas. Our businesses are Home ware , Toys , Kitchen , Jewels and accessories ,  Custom stationary and Musical instruments. In each group we make and create products by hand or from scratch. My group is kitchen and we cooked home made pizza bases then our thing was chop, grate , slice and spread it only cost $10.00 to make and we sold them for $2.00 and made $40.00 we had to repay our loan amount which was $10.00 and the leftover money we had to equally split the amount. Unlike other groups we sold at the trade fair instead of taking orders because our product was already made.

At the trade fair for the first 15 minutes of it I sold the pizza’s we had prepared earlier. It felt good selling the product we made. Whenever a customer took a bite they said “ far out this pizza is so good “ and I felt good knowing our customers were satisfied.

I can’t wait for the market to come because in kitchen we are making a different product. Our next food item is frozen yoghurt Yum Yum Yum….

In this task we tried to write a recount about our trade fair.
We had to explain it so well that it paints a picture in the readers mind.

In this task we wrote sentences using auxiliary verbs. I learnt to find different auxiliary verbs from outside the box. This was a different way to use verbs. I also found out that auxiliary verbs are helping verbs.

Super speed!!!


Walt: write effective paragraphs


Superpowers what do you want as yours if I had a superpower it would be to have speed. For example if you have a basketball game you could zoom across the court and get the ball,then speed away again to dodge anyone on the other team and take your shot.

My superpower is extreme speed . Extreme speed feels weird because the wind gets in your face , it feels like you are getting hay fever because there is a truck load of dust everywhere. You cannot see extreme speed because it is like a flash when happening. You  could've  heard of the flash if you don’t know him then it is alright but the flash is so legit because he can speed around a town in like 10 seconds how cool is that.

With extreme speed I could chase a bank hijacker down and bring rope with me then tie him up so fast he didn't realise I was there. I could protect G.I by finding a local getting beaten up and I would punch the bully in the stomach to make him go down and I would take the kid then speed away. Overall I would keep a lookout for any danger and try to save they day.


I think having extreme speed would be awesome because in my school run I could just run it in 5 seconds. If I did have these spectacular super powers then for me it would be the perfect life.

Today we focused as a whole class and wrote all of our paragraph and this piece of writing was about super powers . The most common super power was speed because it reminded them of the flash.
My class wrote one of these stories each .

Throughout this whole time I have learnt to write juicy paragraphs in a small amount of time. This task asked me to do this in a way that I never thought was possible. This task was an amazing thing .

Weather report

WALT: write a news style report.

Students demand  licenses to chill .

Winter is the most cold season . Students at Pt England school have been frozen for the last week they say “ We need a day off “ Here are tips on how to get to school on a really rainy day.

Winter is almost here and  in Auckland we have quite heavy rain, and some hailing has been happening too. This is not the best weather here in Auckland.

that is also under name of Rosalina thinks that “ school should not be closed because  how are you supposed to learn at home”.


It is important to come to school because you would have to learn , and you could bring a change of clothes

or wear an extra raincoat for the rain. Venetia quotes that “ we need to learn ! “ and that we need to come to school and this will help us learn and learning will help us get a good degree the only reason you go don’t to school is if you are sick or if you go on a holiday.

Today our task was to write a report about the rainy weather coming to Auckland in new Zealand.
